This policy explains the protection that applies to your luggage while it is handled by Liftby4west, including cover limits, exclusions, and the claims process.

1. Overview

This Baggage Insurance Policy describes the cover that applies to luggage while it is in the custody of Liftby4west and its relay partners, from the point a driver confirms collection to the point of final delivery or airport handover. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

2. What is covered

Subject to the limits and exclusions below, we provide cover against loss of, or physical damage to, luggage that occurs while it is in our custody during the relay chain, where the loss or damage is caused by our negligence or that of our relay partners.

3. Cover limits

Cover is provided up to the per-booking limit stated at the time of booking or otherwise communicated to you. Where you have declared a higher value and paid any applicable additional charge, the declared value applies up to the maximum we permit. In the absence of a declared value, the standard per-booking limit applies.

4. What is not covered

  • Cash, jewellery, negotiable instruments, and other high-value valuables, unless expressly agreed in writing.
  • Fragile, perishable, or improperly packed items, and pre-existing damage or normal wear and tear.
  • Electronic data, and consequential or indirect losses (such as missed connections or business losses).
  • Prohibited or restricted items, or any item carried in breach of our Terms or applicable law.
  • Loss or damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including airline handling, customs action, or force majeure.

5. How to make a claim

Report any loss or damage as soon as possible and no later than the deadline stated below. Submit your claim to support@liftby4west.com with your booking reference, a description of the loss or damage, supporting evidence (photographs, receipts, and proof of value), and any relevant reports.

  • Notify us within 48 hours of delivery or scheduled delivery.
  • Provide all supporting documents within 14 days of notifying us.
  • Cooperate with any reasonable investigation we carry out.

6. Claim assessment and settlement

We will assess valid claims promptly and, where a claim is approved, settle up to the applicable limit on the basis of the depreciated value of the affected items. We may repair, replace, or reimburse at our reasonable discretion. We may decline claims that fall within the exclusions or where required information is not provided.
